* CORK FABRIC
Cork fabric, also known as cork leather, is a material that is made from the bark of cork oak trees. Cork oak trees can be found primarily in the Mediterranean region, particularly in countries such as Portugal, Spain, and Italy.
One of the primary reasons why cork fabric is considered sustainable and eco-friendly is because it is a renewable resource. Cork oak trees can live for up to 200 years, and their bark can be harvested every 9-12 years without harming the tree. This means that cork fabric can be produced without cutting down or harming any trees, making it a sustainable alternative to other materials.
In addition to being renewable, cork fabric is also biodegradable and recyclable. This means that when a cork fabric product reaches the end of its life, it can be disposed of in an environmentally friendly way.
Cork fabric is also a great choice for eco-conscious consumers because it is produced using a low-impact manufacturing process. The bark of the cork oak tree is harvested by hand, and then boiled and treated with heat and pressure to create the cork fabric. This process is energy-efficient and does not produce any harmful byproducts or emissions.
Overall, cork fabric is a sustainable and eco-friendly material that is a great choice for consumers who are looking for high-quality and environmentally friendly products. By choosing products made from cork fabric, consumers can feel good about their fashion choices and their impact on the planet.
** RECYCLED AND UPCYCLED JEANS
Our suspenders are made with yarn that contains post-consumer denim and is woven in Belgium.
The "hack your jeans" process: worn-out jeans are used as raw material. This post-consumer denim material is shredded mechanically into a recycled fibre of the best quality. This fibre is the raw material of the next processing steps. By blending the denim fibres with ecological fibres such as Tencel®, dope dyed viscose or post-consumer recycled polyester, a functional open-end yarn is spun. This is how an old pair of jeans, results into a brand new bobbin for weaving or knitting, with a limited ecological footprint.
By choosing an upcycled or recycled product you contribute to a circular economy, reduce waste and decrease your footprint.
Furthermore, even our packaging is 100% biodegradable in order to fit seamlessly into our eco-responsible approach.
