X M.I Forson: our latest capsule collection
Three bow ties. Two worlds of inspiration. A celebration of confidence, individuality and self-expression.
On August 31, Brainbows launches a new capsule collection created in collaboration with Ghanaian model, performing artist, body-positivity advocate and human rights activist Muniru Forson.
The launch coincides with the International Day for People of African Descent, making this a particularly meaningful moment to celebrate African creativity, identity and self-expression.
From Ghana to Belgium
Muniru has been working as a model for more than ten years and has appeared in Ghana's menswear fashion scene, including Ghana Menswear Week. Alongside modelling, he uses his voice to advocate for human rights and body positivity, and expresses himself creatively through music.
His connection with Brainbows came naturally through a shared belief in confidence and individuality: the idea that fashion should be something that helps you express yourself, rather than something that tells you who you are supposed to be.
The collaboration began across continents. The first photo shoot took place in Accra, Ghana, where Muniru lives. A few months later, we finally met in person in Casablanca, Morocco, where we created more photographs and video content together.
Cork meets wax print
At the heart of the collection is a combination of two very different materials.
Brainbows' signature cork forms the basis of each bow tie, while carefully selected Dutch wax fabrics by Vlisco add colour, pattern and character.
Wax fabrics have a strong presence in Ghanaian and wider African fashion, while Vlisco itself has European roots. Bringing these materials together creates a small but meaningful connection between different places, influences and perspectives.
The prints were deliberately kept relatively subtle. The result is a collection that carries the character of wax print without overpowering the person wearing it, making these bow ties easy to combine with both formal and more relaxed outfits.

The Panther
Sleek, sophisticated and just a little unexpected. The Panther combines black cork with an understated wax-print detail in an asymmetric design. A confident choice for a sharp suit, a business setting or an evening out.
The Heritage
Classic with a contemporary twist. Warm cognac cork is paired with a subtle wax-print detail, creating a refined bow tie with just enough character. Perfect for suits, celebrations, formal occasions, or simply dressing up because you feel like it.
The Spice
The boldest of the three, but never too loud. Mustard cork meets a refined wax-print accent, bringing warmth, playfulness and personality to the collection. Made for those who aren't afraid to add a little colour to their style.
