How to Find Your Perfect Belt Size
How to Choose the Right Belt Size
Finding the right belt size doesn’t have to be complicated. Whether you’re buying one of our classic belts or our no-hole (ratchet) belt, this guide will help you determine your perfect fit.
At Brainbows, our belts are all handmade and designed to fit beautifully. To make sure your belt complements your look (and your waist), here are two simple ways to find your ideal size.
Method 1 — Measure Your Waist Directly
If you have a measuring tape, this is the most accurate way to determine your belt size.
-
Wear your trousers as you normally would.
-
Loop the tape through the belt loops around your waist.
-
Note the measurement where the tape meets — that’s your waist circumference.
-
Check your result against the chart below to find your recommended belt size.
| Waist Circumference (cm) | Recommended Belt Size (cm) |
|---|---|
| 73 – 82 | 80 |
| 83 – 94 | 90 |
| 95 – 104 | 100 |
| 105 – 114 | 110 |
| 115 – 124 | 120 |
| 125 – 134 | 130 |
Method 2 — Use Your Jeans or Trouser Size
If you know your trouser size (for example, W32 or W36), you can also determine your belt size that way.
Just find your pant size in the chart below to see the corresponding belt length.
| EU Waist (cm) | US/UK Size (inches) | Recommended Belt Size (cm) |
|---|---|---|
| 73 – 82 | 30 – 32 | 80 |
| 83 – 94 | 33 – 36 | 90 |
| 95 – 104 | 37 – 40 | 100 |
| 105 – 114 | 41 – 44 | 110 |
| 115 – 124 | 45 – 48 | 120 |
| 125 – 134 | 49 – 52 | 130 |
Tip:
Your belt size should usually be 5–10 cm longer than your waist measurement (or trouser size) so it closes comfortably at the middle hole of a classic belt or gives you enough track for the ratchet system.
Final Advice
-
If you’re between two sizes, it’s best to size up.
-
For a clean, tailored look, your belt should fasten around the third hole (for classic belts) or sit comfortably without overhang (for ratchet belts).
